Summit is located in Cold Spring, Kentucky, 5 miles from Northern Kentucky University’s 12,000 students and 10 minutes minutes from downtown Cincinnati, Ohio.
Our vibrant congregation consists of nearly 200 members who are diverse in age and socio-economic background.
Summit’s Youth Group (SYG) consists of more than 20 youth ranging from 6th to 12th grade.
Summit is proud of its decades of unity and love for our community.
Our congregation has a strong Eldership and a Pulpit Minister who is also a practicing Licensed Christian Counselor.
Youth Minister Role Description
Summit church of Christ – Cold Spring, KY
Purpose of Position:
The man who assumes the Youth - Associate Minister position will take responsibility for planning and carrying out a robust program of youth activities that will promote individual and group spiritual maturing. The minister will utilize the parents, teachers, ministers, deacons and elders at Summit in the planning and execution of the youth program. The successful minister will facilitate a robust program, not do it all himself. He will teach classes, preach sermons, conduct individual and group studies as opportunities occur. He should always look for ways to teach the gospel to visitors to the youth activities, family members and anyone else connected with the youth.
Create & maintain an annual plan for the youth program that includes: spiritual goals, major activities, budget & other resource needs.
Organize youth activities to include:
Frequent youth gatherings for devotion, fellowship and service.
Approximately quarterly attend an overnight spiritual and/or service focused event.
Create a special program of summer activities to take advantage of the abundance of available time in youth schedules.
Orchestrate crossover activities between preteens & teens and teens & college to build strong mentoring bonds across age groups.
Foster leadership development among youth
Teach classes, preach and lead singing according to abilities.
Facilitate the involvement of Summit’s youth in Lads to Leaders year round preparation and annual convention.
Attend MRM meetings and report progress
Do nothing to disrupt the unity of the body of Christ at Summit
Work closely with a parent of a teen as an advisor
Develop a set of youth safety guidelines to be reviewed with eldership. Once established ensure it is strictly followed.
Formal training in youth/family ministry
Experience working with youth ministry program preferred
Satisfactory background check and reference review
Annual performance appraisal
